Len Bass ist Mitautor von Software Architecture in Practice und ein weltweit anerkannter Experte für Softwarearchitektur mit über 50 Jahren Erfahrung in der Softwareentwicklung. Als ehemaliger Forscher am Software Engineering Institute (SEI) der Carnegie Mellon University, wo er 25 Jahre lang das Fachgebiet vorantrieb, promovierte Bass in Informatik an der Purdue University und war maßgeblich an der Entwicklung grundlegender Methoden wie der Architecture Tradeoff Analysis Method (ATAM) beteiligt.

Sein umfangreiches Werk umfasst die Mitautorenschaft von Documenting Software Architectures: Views and Beyond und DevOps: A Software Architect's Perspective, was ihn als Vordenker in verschiedenen Bereichen des Software-Engineerings etablierte.
