Pierre Ambroise François Choderlos de Laclos (1741–1803) war ein französischer Schriftsteller und Armee-General, der vor allem für sein Werk Les Liaisons dangereuses (Gefährliche Liebschaften) bekannt ist, einen der frühesten und einflussreichsten psychologischen Romane der französischen Literatur. Geboren in Amiens, verfolgte Laclos eine militärische Karriere, während er in seiner Freizeit schrieb, und stieg schließlich unter Napoleon in den Rang eines Generals auf.

Sein Meisterwerk, das 1782 veröffentlicht wurde, ist ein Briefroman, der Verführung, Manipulation und moralische Korruption innerhalb der französischen Aristokratie durch eine Serie von Briefen zwischen seinen zynischen Protagonisten untersucht.

Das Buch löste unmittelbar nach Erscheinen einen Skandal aus, verkaufte sich im ersten Monat 2.000 Mal und festigte Laclos' Ruf als provokante literarische Stimme. Über seine literarischen Leistungen hinaus erfand Laclos das moderne Artilleriegeschoss und diente während der Revolutionszeit als Sekretär des Herzogs von Orléans. Les Liaisons dangereuses wurde zahlreiche Male adaptiert, unter anderem in dem gefeierten Film von 1988, und bleibt ein weltweit studierter Eckpfeiler der Literatur des 18. Jahrhunderts.
