
Dan S. Kennedy is an American business author and direct-response marketing strategist whose work centers on copywriting, sales, entrepreneurship, and customer acquisition. He is best known for The Ultimate Sales Letter, How to Make Millions with Your Ideas, and the No B.S. series, and has written more than 20 business books.
Dan S. Kennedy built his reputation from the pragmatic side of American business rather than from a university podium. Raised in northeast Ohio, around Bath and Barberton, he has described an early exposure to sales and to the local direct-mail world associated with copywriter Gary Halbert. Kennedy took a first freelance copywriting assignment while still in high school, tried a brief stint in traditional advertising, and quickly concluded that image advertising often served agencies better than clients who needed measurable returns. By his own account, his lasting education came through self-directed study of mail order, salesmanship, and response-driven media, and he has said he has worked entirely in direct response since 1975.
