Shawn Achor is an author and speaker focused on positive psychology, happiness, and human performance. He is best known for The Happiness Advantage, along with Before Happiness and Big Potential. His work helped popularize research on how mindset influences success and well-being, and The Happiness Advantage has been translated into dozens of languages.
Shawn Achor built his public career at the intersection of positive psychology, education, and workplace performance. Educated at Harvard, where he graduated magna cum laude, he later earned a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School in Christian and Buddhist ethics and remained at the university for roughly twelve years as a teacher, researcher, proctor, and lecturer in positive psychology. Those years were decisive. Watching high-achieving students struggle under pressure helped lead him to the idea that the usual formula for achievement was backwards: success did not reliably create happiness; rather, happiness, optimism, and social connection could help produce stronger performance in the first place.
