Nascido: September 22, 1954 – Omaha, Nebraska, United States
Kurt Andersen is an American novelist, journalist, and broadcaster whose work spans politics, culture, media, and American history. He co-founded Spy magazine, created and hosted the Peabody Award-winning public radio program Studio 360, and wrote books including Fantasyland, Evil Geniuses, and the novel True Believers.
Born and raised in Nebraska, Kurt Andersen developed outside the coastal centers he later helped define. After graduating from Harvard College, he built a career that moved fluently among criticism, editing, satire, fiction, and broadcasting. His first decisive breakthrough came in 1986, when he co-founded Spy, the magazine whose sharp blend of reporting and satire helped set the tone for a generation of media writing. Another turning point followed when he became editor-in-chief of New York and then, in 2000, co-founded Inside, one of the early digitally native publications devoted to the media and entertainment business.
