Jordan B. Peterson is a Canadian psychologist, cultural commentator, and author whose work explores personality, belief, meaning, and social order. He is best known for Maps of Meaning and the international bestseller 12 Rules for Life. A former University of Toronto professor, he has built a large global audience through lectures and media appearances.
Jordan B. Peterson grew up in northern Alberta and moved into academic life through the University of Alberta, where he earned a B.A. in political science, and McGill University, where he completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and then remained for postdoctoral work from 1991 to 1993. He went on to teach psychology at Harvard before returning to Canada in 1998 to join the University of Toronto, where he later became professor emeritus. Across those academic years, he combined teaching, clinical practice, and research, publishing more than one hundred papers, especially in personality and related areas.
