Jocko Willink is a retired U.S. Navy SEAL officer, leadership consultant, podcaster, and author known for translating combat experience into lessons on leadership, discipline, and personal responsibility. His notable books include Extreme Ownership and The Dichotomy of Leadership, and his Jocko Podcast has broadened his influence among business and self-improvement audiences.
John Gretton “Jocko” Willink Jr., born in Torrington, Connecticut, in 1971, built the first part of his public identity in uniform rather than on the page. He played soccer in high school, later earned a B.A. in English from the University of San Diego, and spent 20 years in the Navy SEAL teams, beginning as an enlisted SEAL and eventually becoming a lieutenant commander. The decisive turning point in his biography came during the Iraq War, when he commanded SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser in Ramadi. Afterward he oversaw training for West Coast SEAL teams, then retired from the Navy in 2010 with the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and other awards. ((https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jocko_Willink))
