Born: October 21, 1944 – Mount Kisco, New York, United States
Bruce H. Lipton is an American cell biologist and author whose work centers on epigenetics, mind-body interactions, and the influence of belief on health and behavior. He is best known for The Biology of Belief and Spontaneous Evolution, which established him as a prominent voice in self-help and alternative-health audiences.
Bruce H. Lipton was born in Mount Kisco, New York, on October 21, 1944, and grew up in Westchester County in a family that treated education as the surest path to advancement. In his own recollections, a second-grade encounter with a microscope helped set his direction early, and Albert Einstein became a lasting intellectual hero. Lipton earned a biology degree from C.W. Post College of Long Island University, then completed a Ph.D. in developmental cell biology at the University of Virginia in 1971. His academic career moved through the University of Texas, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, St. George’s University, and later Stanford University Medical Center, where his laboratory work on cells, membranes, and gene regulation laid the foundation for the public ideas that would define his later career.
